At Attlas, we use a system of archetypes to help define your chat’s personality. Archetypes are identity models widely used by brands, creators, and organizations to build a consistent and recognizable communication style. In Attlas, they serve as a starting point for shaping how your chat interacts with users.

What do archetypes do?

Archetypes do not change what your chat knows. They change how your chat communicates what it knows. Imagine two chats answering the exact same question:

• One may respond in a serious and objective way;
• Another may respond in a warm and empathetic way;
• Another may be creative, inspiring, or even humorous.

The information remains the same. What changes is the personality behind the conversation.

How are archetypes built?

Each archetype is based on a predefined combination of communication traits. These traits define how your chat behaves and responds to users.

Conversation style

Defines how your chat communicates.

• Formal: Professional, corporate, and academic.
• Standard: Balanced, polite, and versatile.
• Casual: Friendly, approachable, and conversational.

Detail level

Defines how much information is provided in responses.

• Concise: Short and direct answers.
• Balanced: Clear explanations without excessive detail.
• Detailed: Complete responses with context and examples.

Personality core

Each archetype has a core personality that defines its identity. Examples include:

• Analytical
• Empathetic
• Creative
• Enthusiastic

Unlike the other settings, the core personality is tied to the archetype itself and cannot be changed independently.

Humor

Defines the level of humor used in responses.

• None: Fully serious communication.
• Subtle: Occasional light humor when appropriate.
• Witty: More playful and entertaining responses.

Customize beyond the archetypes

Archetypes are only the starting point. After selecting an archetype, you can customize its conversation style, detail level, and humor to better match the experience you want to create. For example, you might choose the Ruler archetype and make it more conversational, detailed, or relaxed. The result will still reflect the original archetype while becoming uniquely tailored to your audience.

The best personality is not the most complex one — it’s the one that best represents your brand and creates the right experience for your audience.
