# Agent

> Ask questions about your chat and change its setup by typing what you want, right from the dashboard.

![Agent](https://mintcdn.com/attlas/FQDFHRnEUvxWaG8I/images/agent.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=FQDFHRnEUvxWaG8I\&q=85\&s=fc278341cd0023596834f4efc202b184)

The agent is a chat inside your dashboard. You type a request in plain words, and it reads your chat's data or changes the chat for you.

For example, you can ask:

* "How many visitors did my chat get this week, and where did they come from?"
* "Which questions did my chat answer badly?"
* "Add three suggested questions about my opening hours."
* "Switch to a darker theme."

> [!NOTE]
>
> Each request you send to the agent uses one **agent message**. Your plan includes a monthly allowance:
>
> | Plan | Agent messages per month |
> | - | - |
> | Free | 20 |
> | Starter | 100 |
> | Pro | 300 |
>
> When you run out, the agent stops answering until your allowance renews. You can upgrade your plan to get more.

## Open the agent

1. Open one of your chats in the dashboard.
2. Click **Agent** in the top bar. On mobile, tap the round **Agent** button at the bottom of the screen.

The agent works on the chat you have open. Your chat preview stays visible on the right, so you see each change as soon as it applies.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Only members of your workspace can use the agent. A member with the **Viewer** role can ask questions but can't change anything.

***

## Start from your top improvements

When you open a new conversation, the agent shows **Top improvements**: the three most useful things missing from your chat, such as knowledge, a greeting, or suggested questions. You also see your coverage rate and the number of leads from the last 30 days.

Click an improvement and the agent walks you through it, one question at a time.

***

## Choose how changes apply

The mode selector sits in the message box.

| Mode | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Manual** (default) | The agent shows each change on a card. You click **Apply** to make it, or **Refuse** to skip it. |
| **Auto** | The agent makes changes right away and shows a card for each one it applied. |

> [!WARNING]
>
> The agent never deletes anything, in either mode. To delete a trigger, a document or a contact, use the matching screen in the dashboard.
>
> In **Auto** mode, text written by your visitors or found in your documents can steer a change you didn't ask for. Stay in **Manual** if you want to check every change first.

## What the agent can do

| Read | Change |
| - | - |
| Visits, leads and conversion figures | Suggested questions (triggers): add, edit, reorder, group |
| Visitor conversations | Theme, branding, avatar and social links |
| Contacts and appointments | Goal and personality |
| Questions your chat answered badly | Business info, description, greeting and SEO |
| Knowledge documents | Knowledge: add a link or a file, write a document, add a correction, clean a document |
| Reports | Generate a new report |

The agent can also advise you: which feature fits your goal, how to organize your knowledge, which questions your visitors expect.

Some settings stay in the dashboard. The agent points you to the right screen when you ask for:

* deleting anything,
* changing your chat's URL,
* connecting an integration (Google Calendar, Notion, a database, a custom domain, a webhook),
* access mode, password or visibility,
* your plan, billing and workspace members.

***

## Attach files and images

Click the attachment button in the message box to add up to 5 files. The agent reads PDFs and images (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF) to answer you. Ask it to add a file to your knowledge and it imports it the same way as the [Sources](/docs/start/sources) window. Audio files count against your quota the same way too.

***

## Web search

The agent can search the web, for example to check your opening hours on a public listing. It shows the sources it used under its answer.

Once the agent has searched the web in a conversation, every change waits for you to click **Apply**, even in **Auto** mode.
